It was suppose to be common for a young black girl to read and study scripture willingly and unbothered. In 1865 the growing number of refugees increased among the slaves. A temporary plan was put in place to give the slaves 40 acres and a mule. Instead one of the first acts of reconstruction was to order all land to its previous owners. But, in this Painting that order never took place. The kidnapping of million of slaves was only a nightmare of the troubled minded black folks who settled upon America and partnered with the Indians to set up more economic independence and autonomy.
