In the early 1970's, Earnie Barnes made his most famous painting. Sugar Shack became a sensation when seen on TV. The hit 70's situation comedy Good Times featured it as the work of ghetto artist JJ Evans. It was also used for the cover of Marvin Gaye's 1976 album I want you. This made Sugar Shack even more famous. On May 15, 2022, the original Sugar Shack sold for 15.2 MILLION with the famous Christie's auction house.
